Progress Report: Dorsey

We're closing in on the finish line at our Midcentury modern flip on Dorsey! Hard to believe given the amount of activity still going on, but this house will be complete NEXT WEEK!

With all of the Derby craziness that's gone on around here for the last week, it had actually been awhile since I had been out to the house - and man has it changed in the past few days! So, for your eye candy pleasure - here are some progress pics :)

First up - the amazing kitchen with a view into the great room. I mean come on now.

Obviously, the concrete countertops have been poured!! I'm so thrilled with how these turned out, and they're not even in their final form yet. We wanted to ensure there was plenty of room for chairs on the other side of that peninsula - a great kids' homework spot while Mom and Dad are cooking dinner, or plenty of space for a casual meal. Don't forget plenty of legroom underneath for the tall people!

When I left the house earlier today, the guys were starting to grind down the countertops to get that smooth surface, and will then put a coat of sealer on it. After the sealer has dried, they'll be able to install the sink and finish plumbing.

Here's a view of the kitchen from the dining area - so standing on the other side of the peninsula in the above photo.

The range will be installed on the back wall, in the hole where that stand light is. Great news for all the cooks out there - it's a double oven gas model with 5 burners - perfect for large family meals! As soon as the countertop sealer has dried, we'll get started installing the tile backsplash, and then the range hood and the open shelving that goes on the wall.

What could possibly be missing from this gorgeous kitchen? What's that you say? A separate bar area? Fear not, my friends - we've got ya covered! Out of the way of the kitchen - actually between the kitchen and the pool - we're finishing up the wet bar. We wanted to bring the same look from the kitchen over to the bar to keep a cohesive look, so we used the exact same cabinet style and countertop, just went with a darker paint color. We'll also be using the same champagne bronze faucet and cabinet hardware here, along with the same open shelving and brackets, just in a smaller size. Beverage fridge will be installed soon as well - so everything you need for a delicious cocktail will be right at your fingertips!

Lastly, a look at the hall bathroom. This is the bathroom that guests will use, it's right off of the main living area and the closest to the kitchen. It's made quite the transformation - more on that in an upcoming post with before/after pictures - but right now, can we focus on how amazing this dresser-turned-vanity looks in here? The drawers are being modified to fit around the plumbing, and there will be a quartz top installed in place of the unstained wooden top - but, I'm so thrilled with the stain color and the overall look of this piece. I'm even more proud that I sanded and stained it all by myself! #humblebrag

That's all the pictures I have for now. Promise there will be more posted throughout the week on our social media! For daily updates, please Like our Facebook page, or head over to our Instagram - make sure to check out Instagram stories for some video tours and shenanigans!
